Single Cask Yoichi Distillery !
by Kazu
You can savor the aroma and the taste of the whisky made in the stone structure of Nikka's first malt whisky distillery.
The address is 7-6, Kurokawa-cho, Yoichi Town, Yoichi-gun, Hokkaido 046-0003.
Each glass that contains whisky of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years old was covered with plastic ceiling .
My guests prefer 20 years old to 25 years old. Tourists can buy the whisky on the spot after tasting not for free of charge.
No staff was in this building and whisky of various kinds ages can be savored in the building of opposite side of the road.
"The distillery stands in the brisk, clean air of Hokkaido, home to Japan's warmest, richest malt whiskies. The entire region is unspoiled, with the scenic Shakotan Peninsula to the west, the canal and port town Otaru to the east, and the KIRORO and Niseko ski resorts to the south. The region abounds in seasonal fare.
The founder of the distillery, Mr. Masataka TAKETSURU and his wife Rita lived in this house that is now covered with beautiful red and yellow.
It seemed that the nice whisky made my guests eloquent. The questions like the machine gun shooting might swamp but we found much more English description on the distilleries than before and that could minimize my poor interpretation.
Thanks, Nikka !
To be continued.
