Welcome to Hokkaido !

by Kazu

The Hawaiian Educational Delegation from headed by the Educational Superintendent in the State of Hawaii Dr. Christina KISHIMOTO visited and checked up the Ainu Museum as the learning place for the students from Hawaii.
Late Yoshihiro Sato the former Educational Superintendent of Hokkaido delivered a welcome speech at the beginning of the reception for the delegation.
About two months after this reception, Mr. Yoshihiro SATO passed away unfortunately. He had to respond to the tough situation brought by covid-19 from Wuhan, China. So sorry for iffy talk, but if covid-19 did not conquer the world, the people in Hawaii and Hokkaido did a lot for the future.

Discussion on the future exchange between Hokkaido and Hawaii !

by Kazu

After the signing ceremony, the educational delegation from Hawaii headed by the Educational Superintendent of Hawaii Dr. Christina KISHIMOTO had the time of discussion with the Board of Education in Hokkaido.
Some details should be discussed between Hawaii and Hokkaido a little bit more. Even though the pandemic of covid-19 annihilated the exchange between Hokkaido and Hawaii but we have to get over the tough situation and the movement must go on.
Sapporo Intercultural and Technological High School had already established a solid relationship with Kaiser High School in Honolulu but had not signed up for a sister-school relationship. Obihiro Hakuyo High School will soon establish a sister-school affiliation with Kalani High School in Honolulu. We have to hand down this relationship to the next generations.

Sign up for the future exchange between Hokkaido and Hawaii !

by Kazu

When the former Educational Superintendent of Hokkaido Mr. Yoshihiro SATO was living and working hard, I did my best to reach the agreement with Department of Education in the State of Hawaii on the future cooperation to foster the students of bothregions.
On January 30,2020, the Educational Superintendent of Hawaii Dr. Christina Kishimoto visited Hokkaido and signed up on the dotted line of the Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation in the area of education between the regions.
This is the moment of signing. It took about two years to reach the agreement. The pandemic of covid-19 from Wuhan, China devastated everything including the educational exchange between Hawaii and Hokkaido but the movement will rise again conducted by me.

Powerful Horses and Obihiro City !

by Kazu

The huge horses for the race were in the stable near the museum. Small ones were also in the area for the visitors. The visitors could touch the small ones.
The race horse named "Hakuunryu" was gazing at me and asking something to me. The Hawaiian delegation had been wondering why they had to visit the horse race field but they seemed to have understood the reason.
The Hawaiian Delegation visited Tokachi Mainichi Shinbun, a local daily newspaper company that run a big hotels and restaurants in Obihiro City. The CEO of the company Mr. Mitsushige HAYASHI did a lot to establish a sister-state affiliation between Hawaii and Hokkaido.

Horse-race Museum in Obihiro City !

by Kazu

The Horse Race Museum in Obihiro City might be a good place for the students from Hawaii to learn the history of the development of Hokkaido. The horses for the race were the mixture of the Hokkaido original small but powerful horses and the ones imported from overseas.
The huge horses were imported for the development of agriculture in Hokkaido. The helped the farmers to cultivate the vast fields. The horse race called "Banei Keiba" is not so speedy because the horses drag the skid loaded with heavy weights of iron.
Several slopes are o the course of the race. The horses and the skids go up and down the slopes. The race had been a national pastime for the pioneers in the city.
