I do not know the reason why Japanese patisseries in Hokkaido incorporate the character "月" which means "moon" into their name but actually we have Ryugetsu "柳月" headquartered in Obihiro City and Kagetsu "花月" and Seigetsu "清月" headquartered in Kitami City. Is there any relationship among them?
Seigetsu has its web site at http://www.seigetsu.co.jp/
Its cheesecake named "Red Silo" has got the first prize in the TV program titled "hidden delicious souvenirs in Japan".
Its small roll cake "Ezo Meguri" which means "pilgrimage in Hokkaido" is very popular in Hokkaido and my wife's favorite.
It is along the street Yuhigaoka Dori in Kitami City
you can have a cuppa ( cup of tea, precisely speaking, as much as you can) in this patisserie with confection and cakes you bought.
Normal occidental cakes are also sold and they are put some "twists" as the original of Seigetsu.
This is the cheesecake named "Red Silo" that has got the first prize in the TV program titled "hidden delicious souvenirs in Japan". Its very creamy cake.
This redbeans hard pudding called YOKAN 羊羹in Japanese. It is flavoured with mint.
Once upon a time, almost 70% of mints were produced in Kitami City in Japan. Even now, mint oil spray that can repulse mosquitoes and other insects is sold in almost all souvenir shops in Kitami City.
Theses steamed cakes with sweet red bean paste inside are another best seller in Seigetsu.
When you have a chance to visit Kitami City, please drop by!
