The museum in the tower of Shimokawa Town was filled with embalmed stuffed animals that showed the fauna of the area.
Deer, sable, ermine, hare, squirrel and other stuffed animals were displayed there.
Owls, falcons and other birds of prey were also displayed.
Brown bears in Hokkaido are much bigger than black bears sin the main island of Japan but smaller than grizzly in North America.
Some times golden eagles can be seen even in Hokkaido nowadays. Rifles, cameras and sax that were brought in by the pioneers were also displayed.
