The Chair of the Bastos City Council was also handed the mementos from the Mayor of Engaru Town Mr. Shuichi Sasaki and the Chair of Engaru Town Council. Only on member of Bastos Delegation could speak Japanese language.
Mr. Koji Ozawa the son of the immigrants from Hokkaido to Brazil keep his Japanese command and played the role of Portugese-Japanese interpreter in the ceremony. The Director General for Culture of Bastos City was also Japanese Brazilian but she spoke a little Japanese.
She was also handed the mementos from the Mayor Sasaki and the Chair Sugimoto. It may be tough to lug around the package of the souvenirs given by Engaru Town. They had to visit Kumano City that has a sister-city affiliation with Bastos after Engaru.
