In order to hand down and maintain the sister-city affiliation, Engaru Town let the three high school students join the delegation from Engaru Town to Bastos City. I am not sure if they will find their way in the town or not so far but such kind of investment was created from the budget of the town.
The three high school students and the Mayor of Bastos City Mr. Manoel Ironides Rosa can not communicate each other without the Japanese-Portuguese interpreter but it is difficult to find the interpreter in Hokkaido.
Engaru Town happened to find the international student from Brasil in Kitami Institute of Technology for this event. Even in Hokkaido Prefectural Government, we have no interpreter who has good command of Portuguese. I am wondering how can we continue the communication with the descendants of the immigrants from Hokkaido to Brasil. So called "Lingua Franca" of the world English is not so convenient in South America.
