Have you ever heard of Swiss restaurant "Kern" in Sapporo ? Cheese fon du and melting beefsteak sourced in Furano area in Hokkaido are the signature dishes of the restaurant.
We took the beefsteak lunch course on that day in the annex of Kern on the basement floor of 109 building in Sapporo City. Omelet was the starter of the course. sauteed slices of onion was stacked up on the grilling plate and a bit of brandy was poured inside the onion rings.
Fire ! The chef called it "the eruption of Mt. Usu" that erupted beside Lake Toya decades ago. It was one of the attraction of the lunch course in the restaurant.
