In Mikasa City of Sorachi Sub-prefectural area, Hokkaido, you can find a beautiful memorial park of the American Engineer, Mr. Joseph Uri Clauford(1842-1924) who was invited to Hokkaido to be the superviser for building National Horonai Railway. Of course, the name of the park is the name sake of Mr. Clauford. The old building of Mikasa Railway Station and a bridge are preserved in the park as well as the trains actually used before. At the souvenir shop you can find the bronze statue of Mr.Clauford. You can enjoy the tram and bicycle riding on the railway in this park as well.2011-12-13
