Fascinating Villa in Hakodate!

by Kazu

The slope paved with cobble-stones was wet after rainfall early in the morning. "Nijukken-zaka" which means 24 ×1.818 =36 meter-wide slope, was also a little bit slippery but the air contained enough moist to breathe very comfortably.
The width was arranged for preventing fire from spreading to adjacent block. The slope was used to carry the artillery to the peak of Mt. Hakodate before. The popular restaurant "Goto-ken" is in the middle of this slope.
Against the backdrop of the city's history, many western-style buildings can be seen in the port area of the city. Villa Concordia Resort and Spa is one of them. The port city had been open to other countries since its establishment.
