With Mt. Shari-dake !

by Kazu

I was convinced that I loved the scenery of the eastern Hokkaido so much. The pioneers who had developed the area might have convinced that different kind of deities from their hometown in the main island of Japan ruled the area.
It's very cold in winter and hot in summer but not so humid as in the main island of Japan. They cut down the huge spruces and took off the massive root and trunk of them to develop the gifted area.
The scale of the farming in the eastern part of Hokkaido is much bigger than in the west and the main island of Japan. The farmers have to use huge tractors and combines.
