World War ⅡMuseum in Unalaska Island !

by Kazu

We visited the Unalaska Visitor Center in Aleutian World War Ⅱ National Historic Area. The building was used as a control tower of US Army on Unalaska Island.
The tarmac of the current airport could be seen from the tower. Needless to say, the tarmac is still being used even now. The figure of an operator stood near the window.
This is the map of Attu Island was displayed in the museum. The island was ruled by Japanese Army at the beginning of World War Ⅱ
and the residents was evacuated to Otaru City in Hokkaido.
