Yukura Shrine in Hakodate City !

by Kazu

My wife loves to visit shrines in each city and town she visits and to get the red stamps on the pages of her book just for that. The book is called "Goshuin-cho" in Japanese. I am not sure what will be brought by such collection but my wife loves to do that.
Yukura Shrine is the name of this sacred area of Japanese original religion. Between the first red gate of the shrine and the main building of the shrine, there was a large ring made of thatch plant. To take off the evil from the body, people go through the ring three times before their worship.
These red gates are on the way to another small shrine to enshrine the deity of shaped like a fox on the premises of Yukura Shrine. It is normal to build two or three shrines on the same premises.
