Wrecked Ship Kaiyo-maru !

by Kazu

This anker and the logs were salvaged from the bottom of the ocean. The ship Kaiyo-maru was wrecked at the end of "Edo Era", approximately 160 yuears ago. The west coastline of Japan has many attractive rocks shaped like creaturs, art works and  spears.
Many ships were wrecked offshore of the west coast of Japan. Kaiyo -maru was also wrecked and after some parts of the body and the artilleries, bullets and the loads were salvaged, this ship made of reinforced concrete was built as a kind of museum.  I am not sure the destination of the ship when the real ship was wrecked but it was so difficult to control the ship near the coast of this island.  Many rock reefs were near the coast and the pilot of the ship was required high degrees of skill to control the ships. Attracted by the prosperity of Esashi Town and the money earned by the fleets owners, so many beautiful females as banquetters were in the town, the crew of the ship might have been looking forward to raising glasses with the ladies in the town during their stay.
