The President of Canada Association in Hokkaido delivered the speech at the beginning of the ceremony. Canada Association in Hokkaido was established one year before Hokkaido and Alberta Province of Canada established the Sister-state relationship in 1980.
The young new Governor of Hokkaido Mr. Naomichi SUZUKI also delivered his congratulatory words next. He seemed to have got used to delivering speeches during his mandate as Mayor of Yubari City.
Just after his installation as the Governor of Hokkaido, he had been asked to attend to a variety of events so frequently and he has responded as many as possible. It might have been hard even for the young leader of Hokkaido.
