This Anniversary event of Hokkaido-Hawaii Sister-state Affiliation was held in Sapporo Tokyu Department Store in May, 2019. The First Secretary delivered a congratulatory speech and so did the former Vice Governor of Hokkaido Mr. Yasuhiro TSUJI in the opening ceremony.
Different from the event held in May, 2018, the Master practitioner of Hawaii Aloha spirit conducted the ritual for the success of the event. In Hawaii, they don't cut the tape to start the event.
They tie the vines to strengthen the relationship of the people and their ancestors. After the opening event, a long line of the people who wanted to buy Hawaiian famaous and popular sweets "Malasada" emerged in the venue of the event.
