Hawaii Moanalua High School- SIT!

by Kazu

Sydney, Andrew and Vivian from Moanalua High School of Hawaii learned how to use Naginata, Japanese long-handled sword. The students of Sapporo Intercultural and Technological High School kindly taught them the basic patterns of attack and defense with Naginata.
The point of attack and defense is the how to move the feet and waist, not the arm. The students from Hawaii were pretty good at learn the ropes on Naginata.
Different from Japanese fencing called Kendo, Naginata fighters can hit the shin of the opponent. Of course, each of the fighters has the armor on their legs.
