Chiang Mai Supper !

After the dinner and the entertainment in "Khum Khantoke", 139 Thetsaban 2 Sai Nai Alley, Nong Pa Khrang, Chiang Mai, I was eager to wrap up the nigh with "Pho", Thai or Vietnamese Rice Noodle with chicken soup.

Praying for delicious "Pho" in front of the altar on the premises of the hotel I stayed, I strolled around the hotel near Tapae Gate of the old town. This is the entrance of the hotel.

Soon I found a eatery along the street in front of Tapae Gate. As Vice Governor of Chiang Mai Viroon Pantawee kindly recommended to visit the night market in Chiang Mai, we had to wrap up the dinner in Khum Khantoke sooner than expected, I wanted to eat a little bit more on that day.

The small tribes'  dancers in Chiang Mai performed so well in their own traditional attire during the dinner show in the restaurant  They added a value and a twist to teir own tradition and culture to make up a show business.

In the mountainous area of Chiang Mai, a variety of minorities are living in teir traditional way. Mon tribe, Ris tribe and other ones are living around the border between Thailand and Myanmar. It works out to 13 to 15 tribes.

We are planning to invite the indigenous people form the regions that have sister-state or friendship affiliation with Hokkaido in 2020. The National Ainu Museum and the Symbolic Space for Ethnic Harmony will open on April 24(Fri.),2020. All the representatives of the indigenous tribes in the sister-state or friendship regions may get together in Lake Poroto Shiraoi Town.

The center of the belief !

A common language and the order must be required to keep a country and a nation even in not-imperial countries. This Buddhism Tower and the statues had been the landmark of Lanna Dynasty flourished in Chiang Mai for many years.

Not depending on whether life treat them kind or not, the citizens naturally headed to this temple and its priests in Chiang Mai. Donation is the main resource of the temple even now.

After the pilgrimage in Chiang Mai, we went back to the hotel we would stay to have a rest before the dinner to be hosted by Chiang Mai Government.

My counterpart in Chiang Mai received us so kindly with ample hospitality. We have to receive them likewise when they visit Hokkaido and enhance the exchange between Chiang Mai and Hokkaido. Odds are developing a new souvenir sourced locally in Chiang Mai may become a first success.

As I might have mentioned before, a variety of small tribes are living in mountainous area of Chiang Mai and each of them has their own culture including textile and dance with songs. 

Beautiflul embroidery could be seen on the clothes of the performers on the stage. That had been females' work for many years but have you ever seen a male doing embroidery ?

Chinese Opera 毘劇-Kunju 2 !

The Troupe of the Chinese Opera called Kunju was established in 1956 and was changed the name to Jiangsu Suzhou Kunju Academy in 2001.

Since its establishment, the troupe have produced so many famous and popular Kunju actors and actresses.
 

The protagonist of the current troupe Mr. Wang got the national first prize of theatrical show in China twice. They played the performance "Mudanting" that means "Peony House"???
in English.

The Chinese Opera Performers from Suzhou of Jiangsu, China paid a courtesy call o the Vice Governor of Hokkaido Yasuhiro TSUJI on January 11(Fri.),2019.

This Chinese opera called Kunju had been established in Suzhou of Jiangsu 600 years ago in the Era of Ming Dynasty.It is one of the top traditional arts in China. It was designated by UNESCO as one of the World Heritages in intangible cultural area.   

There are a variety of repertoires in this Chinese Opera. The behavior and costumes are so sophisticated and create the atmosphere of China amply.

These photos were taken at the venue of the dinner hosed by Chiang Mai Government.  Vice Governor of Chiang Mai Mr. Viroon Pantawee. He was a very kind gentleman his subordinates were looked filled up whith vim ad vigor. They were also nice and kind.                                                             

Director General for Policy Planning and Coordination of Hokkaido Government Mr. Onozuka was seated at the same table with Vice Governor of Chiang Mai Mr. Viroon Pantawee and Chief of Governor's Office Mr. Tanchai.  My counterpart in Chiang Mai was also so nice and cool. 

The traditional dance of each tribe was performed during our dinner. The dancers and the MC of the show invited us at the center of stage but we were too shy to dance in front of many tourists in the facility. We enjoyed a variety of traditional attire and dance of each tribe in Chiang Mai.
