Artificial Marsh works wonder!

The plants in the artificial marsh absorb the heavy metals and acidity of the waste water and the lime stones work wonder to reducing acidity .

It requires extensive space and long time because the natural and slow water flow  should be treated so carefully. 

The area had accommodated  hundreds of people in the past. That is why the company can provide us with the cheeper and natural wat Treatment systems. .

I think the central government of Japan is craving fo reducing the amount of budget for the subsides of  waste water treatment.

That is why the Passive Treatment that can treat the waste water from the closed mine without expensive facilities on the sites.

The natural or artificial  inclination of the ground should be made the most of and t artificial marsh with plants can clean up the waste water.

 

Abandoned Mine in Utanobori, Esashi Town !

As the weather forecast had anticipated, it was a foggy day and the humidity was around 95％ to 98.

We headed to the closed min in Utanobori Area of Kitami Esashi Town on the second day of our busine jaunt to the eastern Hokkaido.

In cold and snowy winter, some of my current staff had visited here last year. "The Passive treatment", they say. It requires extensive space to treat the waste water without expensive facilities.

 

The Facility should be working forever?

The water-treatment facilities of the closed mine in Shimokawa Town should be well-maintained even in hot sum and cold snowy winter.

We heard that a brown bear with cubs lied on a concrete ground of the facility to cool dow it body in hot summer.

Actually, th copper mine area is at the foot of mountains and the habitat of them wild animal. Keeping appropriate distance between human beings an bro bears may be getting difficult even in Hokkaido.

 

The Waste Water should be treated !

The waste water from the closed mine tends to be acidic and shoul be treated with lime powder before being released to the public wate zone such as riverx lak and ocean.

This mine was developed by one of the biggest conglomerates in Japan and as it continues to earn money from other

mines overseas it invested, it can continue to man the water-treatment facility. 

Hundreds of people had worked in the mine before and now, the facilities are maintained by only several people.

 

The Closed Mine should be cared even now !

The drain water from the abolished mine in Shimokawa Town was treated in such state-of-the-art  facility in the forest. 

To be surprised, approximately 600 to 800 people made the Village on the mountain side of the waste water treatment facility.

The running cost of the facility must be so expensive but the subsidiary of the former
productive has to continue to treat the waste water forever.
 

Abandoned Mine in Shimokawa Town !

Above is the entrance of the mine run by one of the biggest congromaritein Japan Sumitomo Group before. It produced thousands of millions of copper and other kinds of metal but abolished.

The shaft and gallery of the abolished mine in the suburb of Shimokawa Town are still keeping the waterflow that contains acidic and poisonous substance.

They should be treated and mitigated before going into the river. The company that had run the mine must do that  or let its subsidiary, getting the subsidies from the prefectural government and central.

 

Water Treatment of the Closed Mine !

This is the entrance of the closed mine in the outskirts of Shimokawa Town. Approximately 600 people made up a community near the mine. Even a theater had been run by the mine company.

Mostly, the waste water from the bottom of the closed shaft was acidic and should be added alcalic materials and got rid of debris before released to the river.

 

Philanthropy Restaurant and Shop ""Hidamari" in Nayoro City at Nayoro City!

We dropped by the local philanthropic Restaurant "Hidamari" in Nayoro City on our way of business jaunt to Shimokawa Town and Utanobori District of Esashi Town.

It was run by the philanthropic entity that created the working opportunities for the handicapped people. I happened to encounter the International trainee from Germany.

This is the entrance of the Closed Mine in the deep forest in Shimokawa Town. The Mine was abandoned but the waste water from the closed mine continued to flow out from the bottom of the shaft.

 

Concurrent Event in front of Red Bricks!

The miniature of "the Red Bricks" was displayed av the center of the room of the History of Hokkaido. 

The Japanese Northern Territory such as Kunashiri , Etorofu, Habomai and Shikotan Islands were displayed in the showcase of Hokkaido History.

Sorachi Sub-prefectural Area in Hokkaido had many coal mines and produced quality fuel that accelerated and enhanced Japanese economic growth tremendously that the coal was called "Black Diamond" at that era.  

But the central government of Japan changed its industrial development plan to import the cheaper and higher- quality coal from overseas such as Australia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
