The taste of Islamic culture such as the Mosques of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and their minarets made so exotic atmosphere in Istanbul but they had been built as the cathedrals for Christians. The fusion of Islamic culture and Christian created unparalleled beauty.
When I visited Turkey with my wife in 2000, we were particularly struck by the Cotton Castle in the inland of the country. The rainfall of slight acid penetrated the limestone and carried the calcium carbonate.
The calcium carbonate water heated by geothermal underground turned to hot spring and made the white terrace like a terraced paddy fields. "Pamukkale" is the name of this place, which means Cotton Castle.
