The Venue of the Reception for the Hawaii-Japan Economic Summit 2017 !

Despite the strong winds that had annoyed the people in Hawaii, the visitors were enjoyed drinking and talking before dinner. 

This is the stage used for the reception of the Hawaii-Japan Economic Summit in May, 2017. Late Ms. Irene Hirano Inoue delivered welcome speech on this stage.

Actually, I enjoyed culinary delights sourced locally in Hawaii at one of the tables on the turf of the courtyard.

 

Resort built on the lava !

Because the night diving to see Manta was canceled on that day, my wife and I enjoyed walking around the courtyard of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows just after our arrival.

It seemed that the hotel could accommodate thousands of visitors in the hotel rooms and condominium on the premises.

I was so satisfied with the facility to accommodate the Hokkaido Delegation including the officially-selected members of the Hokkaido Legislative Assembly. They would be pleased with their stay in this hotel, I thought.

The courtyard of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows was facing the ocean and had many fascinating spot including so-called "Power Spot" on the premises.

It was so windy on that day that the optional diving tour    "Manta College in the night" that I applied for was cancelled unfortunately. I could not enjoy even snorkeling on that day.  

The would-be venue of the reception for the Hawaii-Japan Economic Summit was in the courtyard of the hotel. My wife and I walked around in the courtyard for a while. 

 

Convention Facility of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows !

Some ball rooms were on the ground floor of the hotel. During the Hawaii-Hokkaido Economic Summit held in this hotel in May, 2017, that sweet and delicious Hawaiian original malasada could be savored in this area. 

Some small rooms were available beside the huge ball rooms but it must be for the US-Japan Council that would host the convention.

I imagined a variety of patterns of the logistic arrangement for the Governor of Hokkaido and the Speaker of the Hokkaido Legislative Assembly before going to the ocean in my private visit.

 

Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows Supremacy !

The facility of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows looked so nice to escort the Governor of Hokkaido for the signing ceremony to establish a sister-state affiliation between Hokkaido and Hawaii.

But I was not sure who would visit there as the delegation head of Hokkaido at that moment. If the Governor of Hokkaido could have take part in the Hawaii-Japan Economic Summit 2017 to be held in Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows,  

the logistic arrangement would have been so complicated and exhausting. Thanks to the consideration of Hawaii side, I could avoid such tall order in May of 2017.

 

Strong Winds were Blowing !

This is the foyer of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows. Not so many tourists were found when my wife and I checked in. 

The premises of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows seemed to be so large. The resort hotel was run by Tokyu Group in Japan. 

I could check up all the types of the rooms in the hotel escorted by the manager.  After that, my wife and I walked around the hotel and the condominium on the premises.

This is the entrance of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows. In the first plan made by the State of Hawaii, it was planned to have the signing ceremony to establish a sister-state affiliation between Hokkaido and Hawaii.

Because Hawaii-Japan Economic Summit 2017 was planned to be held in this hotel. But many people in Oahu would not be able to take part in the ceremony if that had been held in this hotel, so the venue of the ceremony was moved to Honolulu.

As a result, my private visit to this hotel was for the logistic arrangement for Hawaii-Japan Economic Summit. But it was our fantastic experience before the big event. 

 

Waikoloa Beach Marriot Resort and Spa !

The shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel we would stay dropped by the adjacent hotel Waikoloa Beach Marriot Resort and Spa that we had stayed just after our marriage in 1993. 

I found that the current name of the hotel we stayed was Mauna Lani Auberge Resort Collection. Before the name was Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows.  

Remembering our stay in Waikoloa, we headed to Mauna Lani where the ceremony to establish a sister-state relationship between Hawaii and Hokkaido in May of 2017.

 

To the Venue of Signing !

My wife and I entered the premises of Mauna Lani Resort. Mauna Lani Bay is in this area. Waikoloa Beach Marriot Resort and Spa is adjacent to Mauna Lani.  

Many resort hotels are on the west side of the Big Island because the trade winds bring wet air to the east side of the island and the wet air turned to rain clouds that bring ample rainfall to the east side of Mt. Mauna Loa and Mt. Mauna Kea.  

That is why many coffee farms are on the east side of the island. After bringing the rainfalls o the eastside of the island, comfortable winds with appropriate moist come down from the mountain.

 

To Mauna Lani Bay Resort and Spa !

I heard that many artists and billionaires moved to the Big Island to live nowadays. Why the artists made their mind to live there ? The island continued to create its land by erupting lava from Mt. Kilauea.    

Is that  stimulating and inspiring their mind ?Affected by trade winds, the east side of the Big Island is rainy and covered with green. 

On the other hand, the west side of the island is very sunny and appropriate for building resort hotels to provide fine days to the residents and visitors.
