Dutch Harbor, Unalaska !
by Kazu
This is the aircraft I took from Anchorage to Dutch Harbor on Unalaska Island in Aleutian Islands. We visited there to meet the leader of the tribe Qawalangin, the indigenous people of the Island.
The scenery from the airport seemed to be so cold but it was comparatively warm and even raining. But it had been snowing a few days before our arrival, one of the residents said.
The parking lot was filled with automobiles and some of them were for rent for visitors. One of our delegation was so moved and excitedso much.

Anchorage to Unalaska !
by Kazu
It was as cold in Anchorage as in Sapporo City. But it was much warmer in Dutch Harbor on Unalaska Island than in Sapporo and Anchorage.
The scenery around the airport of Dutch Harbor was like that of northern part of Canada. Mountains were not so steep but the mild hillside seemed to be linked to the sky.
It was a little bit rainy and the automobiles did not wear snow tires. The ocean near the coast had the color of coral islands. Soon we got to know the reason.

Anchorage early in the morning 2 !
by Kazu
There is a lookout at the northwest end of Anchorage. The statue of Captain Thomas cook stands at the center of the lookout from where the shallow bay can be seen. The scenery is peculiar to the norther region, I think.
Nothing could be seen from the lookout in that morning. The limelight on the coast could be seen on the opposite side.
The light from a ship spread on the surface of the bay. Every time I visited there, I thought I would like to be the trailblazer in the darkness.

Anchorage early in the morning !
by Kazu
In the next morning of the dinner with Aleut friends, I jogged around in the downtown of Anchorage early in the morning. The former tarmac for air crafts are currently used as the place for evacuation.
At the center of the park, there is a locomotive colored black. The railway station of Anchorage is located much lower part of the city.
Once in three days, the train of Alaska Railway arrives in the city and bring many tourists. The locomotive had taken the role before.

New Friends in Alaska !
by Kazu
The modern design of APIA(Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association) building seemed to be so sophisticated and making the most of natural sunshine. The display of their traditional kayaks, attires, waterproof jackets made of seals' gut, photos of ancestors were so nice and inspiring that they shook my soul.
A TV producer was filming the inside of the facility. She is Japanese American. We had a ice-breaking dinner on that day.
I think we shared really happy time with the Aleut people. Some talks can not go out of the room but anyway, the meeting was so beneficial, I think.

APIA, Aleut Pribilof International Association 2 !
by Kazu
These are the crown for the Aleut people in Aleutian and Pribilof Islands. The functions are to avoid the reflection of sunshine from the surface of floating ice and iceberg.
The crowns for the leaders of the tribe are so beautiful that the technology to draw the patterns on the surface of the sun-visor-like crown.
These are the models of their boats including kayaks. Their kayaks were the fastest ship on this globe, they said. The building of APIA was so nicely designed and displayed. Namely, eye-catching.

APIA, Aleut Pribilof International Association !
by Kazu
At the beginning of this month February, 2019, I was struck by the curious fact of the similarity between the indigenous people called Ainu in Hokkaido and Aleut people in Alaska.
From Hokkaido, Ms. Tahara took part in the meeting of the tribes. Millie, Sally, George, Pauline, Dimitri, Liza and Gregory, thank you so much for receiving us so kindly.
Can you find the logo of the APIA, Aleutian and Pribilof Islands Association in the blue frame ? It is like a spiral of whirling tides that is the motif of Ainu textile in the wooden frame. I could not believe that and got goose pimples.

Ms. Reiko T. Rogers, Hokkaido Smile Ambassador visited Sapporo and took the role as an interviewer in the second reception of Malama Hawaii, the association for Hawaii lovers.
The representative of Hawaiian Airline and FM Northwave and Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Company joined the photo session.
Basically, it is the network of Hawaii lovers but to make the most of the network of each participant and maximized the benefit from the participation, networking is one of the main purpose of the party.
Hidden Fabulous Restaurant in Bangkok 2 !
by Kazu
It took approximately 20 minutes to walk to the Thai restaurant from ICON SIAM. We went through the foyer of Sheraton Hotel, the deck on the river and woods to reach the restaurant.
Other buildings of the former jam factory were used as a souvenir shop, a book store and a furniture shop and a display space. Some aged trees might have been watching the change of the neighbors.
This area seemed to be renovated and turning to the center of the young culture. The waterfront may be changing its countenances rapidly.
