Precisely speaking, Departamento de Alto Parana (Alto Parana Prefecture) is near the border and close to Brazil. Its capital city is Ciudad del Este. With the plenty of water from Iguazu Waterfall, it must have been easy to get the land irrigated, compared to other area.
We have to learn a lot from the intestinal fortitude of immigrants from Hokkaido and their pioneering spirits. Even for the people living in Hokkaido, their history of difficulties and challenges should be recognized amply as well as their contribution to the development of Paraguay.
