I heard that Dole Fruits Company closed its factory in Maui Island some years ago. Six hundred workers were laid off. In order to rebuild the agriculture in Maui, they need some technologies and well-organized plan.
The main land of the USA can provide them, of course but the mainland may consider "Pleasure Islands" as the place of consumption of their produces and products.
It means the mainland will never give advice to Hawaii on agriculture. Tourism is the key industry of Hawaii but after the pandemic of covid-19, the necessity of the industry in other area that can absorb the mobility of the workforce from tourism industry is recognized again.
