In the morning of January 1st, Japanese people make a point of having such meal in the beautiful Japanese-lacquered wooden boxes. Pacific herring's roe called "Kazunoko" in Japanese and boiled black beans are for the prosperity of the offsprings and the family. Sweet chestnuts paste is almost a kind of dessert. Boiled kelp-roll with boiled Pacific saury is the crust of broth.
We headed to Restaurant and Bar "Sky J" on the 35th floor of JR Tower Hotel Building to have buffet-style new year lunch. It was so snowy on that day that we gave up new-year worship to the nearest Japanese Shrine after the lunch.
