For ice-breaking of the international exchange for the students of the high school Waipahu in Honolulu and from overseas, some interesting games had been arranged in Waipahu. Using disposable paper cups, pieces of paper, wooden chopsticks and so forth, the students have to try to build higher objects without talking each other. They will feel frustration prohibited to talk each other.
They use gesture to communicate their intention on how to built the higher object each other. In the latter half of the limited time, they are allowed to talk each other in English. Boosted by the frustration they felt in the former half of the limited time, they make the most of their ability to talk in English, not in their mother tongue.
Principal Sheets and so experienced teacher Mr. Will Smith figured out such effective and efficient learning program to learn English language. I really admire their efforts and ability to reach their goals. I will do everything to give fabulous experiences to the international students from Hawaii including Waipahu.
