I heard that Mr. Nakanishi, the CEO of DOKYU that runs this Tonkatsu restaurant chain "Tamafuji", bought tons of pineapples and mangoes genetically modified in the USA.
He used these fruits in the restaurant for the employee of his company. He was so appreciated by the agricultural department of Hawaii. That might have become the booster to open the restaurant.
Governor IGE also appreciated his cooperation to promote the fruits produced in Hawaii. Without the help provided by the State of Hawaii, it must have had taken longer time to open the restaurnt.
