Each float for the parade of this festival in Esashi Town has a figure of a certain historic hero on its top. Famous old samurai warriors are popular to set on the tops. The textiles that decorate the floats were made in Japanese old capital city Kyoto so many years ago.
They can be repaired only in Kyoto City. It is impossible to repair the textile in Hokkaido. When the town fully flourished with the bumper catch of Pacific herring called "Nishin" in Japanese, so many beautiful ladies as banquetters, skilled Japanese patissier and seasoned chefs came to this town.
The fleet owner for Pacific herring fishing made up big fortune and treasure in this town. Unbelievable amount of consumption was made in this small town at that time. Particularly in spring, the prosperity of the town was much bigger than the capital city Edo, current Tokyo.
