Riceland Fukagawa in Sorachi!

 by Kazu

The restaurant is at the roadside station named "Riceland Fukagawa" in Fukagawa City, Sorachi sub-prefectural area, Hokkaido.
Top grade rice crops are produced in this area including Fukagawa City.
This metal pot called "KAMA" is Japanese traditional type for boiling rice. "Kama-meshi" is the name of
this meal. Above is "Asari (clam) Kama-meshi" which is the chef's special of this month.
While boiling rice with toppings, wooden lid of this type should be placed on the pot. It requires twenty minutes to boil up the rice with this small-sized pot. Rice cracker-like burnt rice is my wife's favorite.
I chose "Kakuni Kama-meshi"which is the rice boiled with broth and topped with pork meat, sliced bamboo shoots, sliced carrot and gingko nut.
To be brief,  perfect!
In particular, the recipe of flavouring  this pork should be shared with all the human beings.
Unfortunately, the capacity of this restaurant is so limited that many tourists are waiting in line after a quarter past twelve.
I strongly recommend this meal for lunch if you have a chance to drop by this roadside station along the Route 12 in Fukagawa City.
After having lunch or dinner in this restaurant, you can have white-chocolate pudding, chocolate pudding or blanche pudding.
What a beautiful day with those culinary delicacy!

Akabira City Railway Station Building,Mirai.

by Kazu

This is the railway station building called Mirai which means "future " in Japanese, in Akabira City.
It has many function  rooms that can be used for conference and seminar.
A private sector's meeting for revitalizing coalmine area was held in this building on June 1(Fri.) and I attended.  My favorite space is on the second floor. Watching the green outside the window, I could have lunch box on the floor comfortablly and listen to the nice melody played by this automatic small pipe organ. I was so impressed by the tidy and squeaky-clean building. A souvenir shop is on the ground floor.
Please find this building and have coal candy for happy talk !

Join Alive 2012 in IWAMIZAWA!

by Kazu

The enthusiastic event, Join Alive 2012 will be held on July 21(Sat.) and 22(Sun.) in Iwamizawa Greenland of Iwamizawa City.
The parking area was so crowded and filled with cars that I recommend you to use public transportation system or private premises of neighbourhood under the permission of the owner.
The security staff was so bad at handling the cars and guests on the way to the parking that even if you wanted to just drop off your family or friends near the venue, it would take so long time to reach the convenient point to drop off. If you have bicycles that can be folded and loaded on your cars that would be convenient.
It was so fine during the event last year and the area  was deluged by so many people.
Please check the location of the washrooms before drinking and eating.
If you had any ponchos, that would be so convenient.
Details are at
http://www.joinalive.jp/2012/

Please enjoy the summer in Iwamizawa!

My favorite colour in May!

 by Chiseko

Azalea in the premises of Hokkaido University is so nice that many people visit there in this season.
After cherry blossoms have gone, the flowers of azalea is in full flourish.
I am struggling with the report I have to submit in the first year of master course now but the flowers ease the pain and give me comforts.

Canola blossoms are blooming in Iwamizawa now. Will it be hot in coming summer?
I love the aroma of spring that fill me up with the light and power of life.
Let's go out and hit the road!
