Fishery of Rishiri Island 2 !

First of all, these photos are displayed in the museum of Rishiri Town located in the outskirt of the town.
The photo above is showing kelp-picking and the tool for that.

Cypress was the best to make the tool but as there were no cypress trees on the island, spruce was used to make the tool. Nowadays, plastic tool is the mainstream.

These photos were taken several decades ago. A huge ray was landed on the island .
