Tonkatsu Tamafuji before its open !

This space was refurbished and well-equipped to become one of the most popular and famous restaurants that requires the customers to wait for their turn at longest for two hours. But if I asked the owner of the restaurant, my friends can be escorted to the table without waiting.

I was convinced that the Japanese style thick pork cutlet would be a good draw in Honolulu but I did not expect the Tonkatsu restaurant would allure so many people from all over Oahu.   

Please try the restaurant "Tonkatsu Tamafuji" in Honolulu but you have to wait for long time, different from the flagship restaurant and others in Sapporo. 

After checking up the venue of success, I visited "Studio Rim" where the radio program "Island Breeze from Hawaii" is recorded.

Before the open of the current most famous and popular restaurant in Honolulu "Tonkatsu Tamafuji" headquartered in Sapporo and run by "Dokyu", we visited the flat where the new restaurant would be open.

This space is filled up with the customers every day and they have to wait for their turn for two hours in average. I was invited to the pre-open of the restaurant later. The Governor of the State of Hawaii Mr. David Yutaka IGE and his wife Mrs. Dawn Amano IGE were also invited at that time.

The CEO of  "Dokyu" assigned an able agent to open this restaurant and the agent worked wonders without any consultant and local agents that required thick margin. That was the tip to make the restaurant one of the most popular eateries in Hawaii. 

 

After the Accomplishment !

When we had a delegation from the State of Hawaii, Representatives Mr. Ken ITO and Mr. Mark HASHEM were the delegation head of Hawaii. They were upset by the response of Hokkaido Government in 2015. 

Particularly, the behavior of Director for Foreign Affairs of Hokkaido Government looked so rude and got them angry. The Director was a liar and he did so bad things to them.  

I was so satisfied with their countenances filled up with delight and vigor during this courtesy call and meeting. 

I took the delegation members from Hokkaido to one of the most popular steakhouse in Hawaii "Wolfgang Steakhouse" in Royal Hawaiian Center.   

 

The Courtesy Call on the Representatives !

The first official delegation from Hokkaido paid a courtesy call on the Representatives of the State of Hawaii and talked about the future exchange between the region. 

All the participants to the meeting seemed to be so excited. They did not imagine at that moment that the relationship between the regions developed in a variety of areas five years later.  

Some of the representatives expressed their expectation to develop the sports exchange such as softball and baseball. The Speaker of Hokkaido Legislative Assembly at that time Mr. Ren Endo expressed their intention to establish a sister-state affiliation in a year. 

 

The Courtesy Call on the Governor and Capitol !

The first official delegation from Hokkaido to Hawaii took the memorial photos at  the entrance of the Governor's Office. All the members of the delegation looked so satisfied with their accomplishment of the first mission. 

The next appointment was the meeting with the Representatives. One of them was born and raised up in Hokkaido and his strong desire to bond with Hokkaido again made the meeting a real.  

The delegation from Hokkaido expressed its intention to establish a sister-state affiliation between Hokkaido and Hawaii in an appropriate opportunity. 

 

Rendez Voux !

Before the first visit of the first official delegation from Hokkaido to Hawaii, we had a short break to relax and get the second wing. The sky was so bright and shining.

Our business attire and shoes looked so weird to the tourists and residents in Waikiki area.  "Business in Waikiki ?" Even the hotelier wore Aloha shirt. We might have put a wet blanket to the atmosphere of the area of pleasure.

This is the first encounter of the first Hokkaido delegation. We met the Governor of the State of Hawaii at that time Mr. David IGE. We took the memorial photos in front of the crest of the state.

 

Waikiki Beach in Business Hours !

After having lunch, we watched around the beach. Before the pandemic of covid-19, Waikiki Beach looked so nice and the workers around the area showed us ample hospitality. 

The ocean was so calm that no surfer could not be found off shore in that area. I was so tempted to dive into the ocean but the schedule in the afternoon on that day was a little bit hard for elderly people.

I had to take care of them and give them a good impression on the business jaunt and Hawaii. I think I did a good job for that.
