The Fourth "Malama Hawaii" Reception !

In the evening on the first day of Hawaii Fair opened in Tokyu Deparetment Store Sapporo, Hawaii lovers got together and enjoyed their fourth reunion in New Otani In Sapporo. 

 The party was started at 20:30 but many Hawaii lovers joined the party. The memorial photos were taken at the end of the party.

The President of Tokyu Department Store wrapped up the party with his words of appreciation.
Led by Ms. Reiko Tokushige Rogers, the MC of the party as well as the opening event of Hawaii Fair, we took the memorial photos in the venue. 

For the Future of Hokkaido and Hawaii !

I am so sorry for failing to introduce Ms. Reiko Tokushige Rogers, the Master of Ceremony of this event, Hokkaido Smile Ambassador and the Personality of "Island Breeze from Hawaii" broadcast by Northwave.

For the future of Hokkaido and Hawaii, the exchanges of the Junior High and High School students were arranged and conducted at the end of last March. The Junior High students on Nakasatsunai Village, the  students of 

Sapporo Intercultural and Technological High School, Asahikawa Eiryo and Noboribetsu Akebi visited Honolulu and learned a lot about the history of Hawaii including that of the immigrants from Japan. The photos of the exchange were displayed at the north entrance of Tokyu Department Store. Please take a look at the lovely kids enjoying their stay in Hawaii.

The Hawaiian Priest Mr. Danny Akaka continued to clean up the space playing the conch shell trumpet. He sprinkled the sacred water with the big leaves here and there in the venue of the event.

 He chanted the mantra and pray for the success of the fair for some minutes. He prompted the participants to the ceremony to untie the knot of the vine.

The participants followed the manner and opened the way to the success and all the people in Hokkaido. We can use this vine with leaves again and again, different from the typical tape-cut, I thought.

Vice Governor of Hokkaido Mr. Yasuhiro TSUJI delivered the congratulatory messages after the opening remarks by the president of the Department Store in Sapporo. 

 The Consul of the U.S.A. Mr. Picket followed them. Normally, the guests and the host cut the tape to announce the opening of such kind of fairs but this time, the ceremony was conducted in Hawaiian traditional way.

The Hawaiian Priest Mr. Danny Akaka led the ritual and play the conch shell to the north, south, east and west. This is to clean up the space before the ritual.

The opening event of The Second Hawaii Fair in Tokyu Department Store Sapporo was held in the morning on May 9(Thu.), 2019.

A variety of participants who love Hawaii joined the event. The priest Danny Akaka visited Sapporo to take part in the event and do the Hawaiian ritual at the beginning of the event. 

The President of Tokyu Department Store Sapporo delivered the opening remarks. He kindly referred to the Second Anniversary of Hokkaido-Hawaii Sister-state relationship established o May 8(Mon.), 2017.

Honolulu in the night !

It was so beautiful night after a wonderful dinner in Honolulu. My wife and I had already celebrate our silver wedding in Maldives and Abu Dhabi and entered 27th year after our wedding.

I really appreciate the patience and cooperation provided by my wife. If I had not met my wife 33 years ago, I could not have had such wonderful a life on this globe.

I bought and gave my wife what she had wanted to have on that day and walked around Waikiki with her. Under the bright moon light, we remembered our younger days.

For the future of Hawaii and Hokkaido !

We prayed for the peace of the world but the weapon manufacturers need wars and conflicts on this globe. They may be unconscious about the number of lives lost and to be lost in the wars because how to uses the weapons they made depends on the people who bought them.

 Have you ever tried this shaved-ice stand in Ala Moana Center ? Sharing such kinds of delicious dishes may be able to make us keep peace on this globe but nobody has tried before.

Strawberry, mango and blueberry toppings on the shaved ice were so attractive and made them works of art. I am not sure if I can stay fit and pumped-up in the life in Hawaii.
