At the beginning of the year !

During having lunch buffet in the restaurant on the 34th floor of Hotel Nikko in JR Tower of Sapporo City, the hotel staff showed their annual performance of Japanese lion dance.

It is called "Shishimai" and the performance is said that the bites of those mascot animals brings good fortune.

Nowadays, hotel clerks have to complete their variety of duties in their hotel. This performance at the beginning of each year.
Good job !

Happy New Year 3 !

As time went by, the scenery of Sapporo City changed a little bit. It showed a variety of countenances with the clouds conveyed by winds.

 Even on such calm and beautiful day,  some people were weeping and loosing beloved, unfortunately. We have to thank enough to our guardians and ancestors.

Thinking of such things, we heard the sounds of drum. Something was happening in the restaurant where we had lunch.

Above is the photo of Japanese strings "Shamisen" performance at the lobby floor of Hotel Nikko in JR Tower on January first of 2017. We took lunch on the 34th floor.

From the cracks of the clouds, the rays of bright sunshine were coming to the ground. The scenery looked so solemn.

 We felt something sacred in the sky and the scenery of Sapporo City. I felt like I was convinced of my duty on this globe. How about you ?

Above is the last photo of 2016 but precisely speaking, I took another photo for my friend from Heilongjiang with the female staff of the spa. I hope I will be able to get the permission from my friend to post the photo.

 At the beginning of this year 2017, we  worshiped Miyoshi Shrine at the center part of Sapporo City, not Hokkaido Shrine. It was so small and it was described on the sign that the shrines named "Miyoshi" were for the local deities.

It is the year of birds. The Chinese character that means birds or chicken was shown on the wall of Sapporo  Underground promenade. It was so cynical that we had to kill so many chickens infected by influenza in Hokkaido at the end of last year.
At the lobby floor of Nikko Hotel Sapporo in JR Tower Building, Japanese strings  Shamisen play attracted the guess on the first day of January, 2017.  

What we had on December 30 !

Happy New Year, Everybody !
Above is the dinner I had after bathing in the hotspring spa of Hotel Monterey Edelhof Sapporo with my friend from Heilongjiang, China on December 30, 2016.

 The dinner with a pint of beer and bathing for as long as you can, it costs 3,090 Japanese Yen in the hotel. Two choices you have for the dinner. Japanese cuisine shown above or Chinese-like dishes.

From the lounge of the spa, you can see the western part of Sapporo City. You can sit back and stretch your legs on the reclining seat in the lounge. Each seat has a boob tube. Basically, the lounge is the space for relaxing but nowadays, some tourists talk loudly in the lounge. What do you think about it ? We raised glasses calmly in the room.  

Port City Hakodate !

This ferry is not in use for transportation now but as a museum to show what kind of role the ship had been playing for  years and help the citizens remember the life before the islands were connected by the railway through the tunnel under the seabed.  

This is the hotel near the bay that has so nice a restaurant on the ground floor. The name of the building is "Danshaku Club Hotel and Restaurant. Danshaku means "Baron" in Japanese and is used as the name of one of the most delicious potato in Hokkaido.

 This is the whole building of the condominium "Danshakun Club Hotel and Restaurant". I went back to the hotel we stayed. It was "Hotel Pako". It was so nice to stay in the hotel than expected.

Like a cloud floating in the sky !

I love to watching the ships going into and out of the bay. If I could do that with my wife, I might have chosen to live in the bay city.

 Normally, this bay city does not annoyed by heavy snow and is comparatively warm even in winter. The hot shot of Tokugawa Administration helped to establish this bay city.

 Very few of the citizens know about the fact but the bay city was the place to take in the culture and custom of overseas. It was the top of Japan to be internationally competitive.
