Kaiser High School in Oahu !

Before the pandemic of covid-19, we really enjoyed our stay in Waikiki, Honolulu. When I visited in January, 2023, my friends advised me not to stroll around the street along Alawai Canal and the small street between the beach and canal.

Jogging around the area late in the evening was not recommended after the pandemic. Before the pandemic, I jogged around Waikiki and Diamondhead even at midnight when I had to get up early in the next morning.

I never do that after the pandemic.

The first official delegation from Hokkaido to Hawaii visited Kaiser High School to establish the regular educational exchange between the regions.

After coming back from Polynesian Cultural Center in Oahu, Honolulu,I jogged around Waikiki that was so safe and filled with vim and vigor befoer the pandemic.

From the pier on the east side of Waikiki, such beautiful photos could be taken and savored. No dangerous guys with bug knives and guns. 

The residential area on the east side of Waikiki was still bright and beautiful even late in the evening. As I did not drink alcoholic beverage in Polynesian Cultural Center, I could enjoy night jogging on that day.

 

End of the Show " HA, Breath of Life" !

When we visited Polynesian Culture Center in Oahu, Hawaii in 2016, a cone of ice cream was delivered to the audience in the stadium, I think. When we visited there in 2023, I could not find the service any more.  

Everybody seemed to be so relaxed and looking forward to what they would watch there. It seemed that the contents of the show and performance were so improved and sophisticated year by year.

I really appreciate their attitude to their performance and the audience to create the repeaters and mew-comers. Better performance and new twists to entertain the audience should be figured out to maintain the system and facility.

 

the Stadium Filled Up !

The first official delegation from Hokkaido to Hawaii consisted of the Vice Governor of Hokkaido at that time, powerful members of Hokkaido Legislative Assembly, The CEO and the top Brasses of North Pacific Bank 

that had and have the special cooperative affiliation with Central Pacific Bank, broadcasting company and the journalist of Tokachi local newspaper. 

So many audience from all over the world filled up the stadium of the facility.Almost all of them seemed to stay in Waikiki, Honolulu. The surfers staying in the North Shore must have been tired after their fight with waves.

 

Dinner before "Breath of Life" HA !

We were so impressed by the paintings on the wall of the buffet restaurant in !Polynesian Cultural Center" in Oahu, Hawaii.The souvenir shops and vendors seemed to create the atmosphere of kind of festival. 

As the restaurant is run by Bringham Young University, no alcoholic beverages was served there.Even non-alcohol beer could not be found.

The current President of Malama Hawaii in Hokkaido had visited Hawaii so many times but that was his first official visit to Hawaii with a mission. 

 

The dinner in Polynesian Cultural Center !

"Polynesian Cultural Center" in

Oahu, Hawaii has such a corridor to the restaurant like a cave. Through the narrow space that leads to the wide space, we felt like experiencing the hidden world on the island.  

It seemed that the image of Hawaii involves plenty of water and waterfall, jungle and mountains and volcano.The buffet-style restaurant in Polynesian Culture Center has high ceiling and wide space for savoring Hawaiian cuisine and the international fusion. 

The restaurant seemed to be able to accommodate thousands of people in it. Almost all the staff of the restaurant and facility seemed to be the students of Bringham Young University. they learned to work in tourism industry before their graduation.  

 

Polynesian World !

After the daily performance of Polynesian culture and living, the exhibition area was very calm and cleaned up for the next-day display. 

The first official delegation from Hokkaido to Hawaii sent in 2016 might have found some clues to start the international exchange between the indigenous people in Hokkaido Ainu and Hawaii.  

The Director of Polynesian Cultural Center in Oahu, Hawaii gave us nice explanation on the history, function, system and human resources. All the delegation members would be the powerful driving force to establish a solid, caring, beneficial and everlasting relationship between the regions.
