Water Treatment of the Closed Mine !

This is the entrance of the closed mine in the outskirts of Shimokawa Town. Approximately 600 people made up a community near the mine. Even a theater had been run by the mine company.

Mostly, the waste water from the bottom of the closed shaft was acidic and should be added alcalic materials and got rid of debris before released to the river.

 

Philanthropy Restaurant and Shop ""Hidamari" in Nayoro City at Nayoro City!

We dropped by the local philanthropic Restaurant "Hidamari" in Nayoro City on our way of business jaunt to Shimokawa Town and Utanobori District of Esashi Town.

It was run by the philanthropic entity that created the working opportunities for the handicapped people. I happened to encounter the International trainee from Germany.

This is the entrance of the Closed Mine in the deep forest in Shimokawa Town. The Mine was abandoned but the waste water from the closed mine continued to flow out from the bottom of the shaft.

 

Concurrent Event in front of Red Bricks!

The miniature of "the Red Bricks" was displayed av the center of the room of the History of Hokkaido. 

The Japanese Northern Territory such as Kunashiri , Etorofu, Habomai and Shikotan Islands were displayed in the showcase of Hokkaido History.

Sorachi Sub-prefectural Area in Hokkaido had many coal mines and produced quality fuel that accelerated and enhanced Japanese economic growth tremendously that the coal was called "Black Diamond" at that era.  

But the central government of Japan changed its industrial development plan to import the cheaper and higher- quality coal from overseas such as Australia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

 

"Akarenga" , Red Bricks Display!

It is very difficult to strike a good balance to display the features and big draws of the stakeholders in a certain regions, particularly in case the number of the stakeholders are big and the each of them are so demanding.

I assume it was so tough to strike a balance and build the consensus on how  and what to be displayed in the limited area of newly opened former prefectural governmental office building of Hokkaido.  

But the opening day of the reborn "Red Bricks" was so cheerful and inspired by swamping visitors from adjacent area and overseas. Even for us the citizens of Hokkaido, very intriguing displays could be found and newly discovered in the old building. A well-founded and popular confectionery in Hokkaido was given the place to sell its signature sweets and items.  

 

"Red Bricks" Newly Opened !

The displays on the second floor of the old Hokkaido Prefectural Government office building were introducing the traditional culture of the indigenous people in Hokkaido Ainu with rectangle electronic board standing around the center of the room.

The old traditional dance of the indigenous people of Hokkaido Ainu was explained on the white board and and the electronic displays. Currently, running the souvenir shop and cafe in the building was conducted by a contractor as a result of competition. 

The design of the old building "Red Bricks" seemed like that of old North America and the ceilings were so high.

It had to show the dignity and authority of the prefectural government. The doors and windows of the building use the sheet glasses deformed a little bit.

 

The Trees Stood Still !

It was so fine and the bright sunshine gavethe landscape of the agricultural experimental field and the rows of poplar trees a good contrast of shade and shining green.

The skyline of the buildings was close to the horizon even in the center of the city. As the city with the population of 1.6 million, Sapporo City 4s very unique beautiful City in Japan.

 

The Successor of Mr. JJ Works Wonder!

The lunch course of The Sushi Bar Katou in Hotel Setsu Niseko started with Japanese seafood pudding-like hot appetizer in the cup called " Chawanmushi" in Japanese. 

Beautifully-shaped sushi pieces topped with boiled shrimp, salmon, scallop, flat fish and fatty tuna followed and entertained us with chats with the successor.

The successor looked young but his culinary art works were fabulous and filled us up with happiness.

 

Sushi Bar "Katou" in Hotel Setsu Niseko !

It seemed that the famous and popular sushi Master Mr. JJ in the Sushi Bar Katou in Hotel Setsu Niseko had retired and is having a rest in his own house in Otaru.

But to be surprised, he is preparing for his next career in Philippines, invited by his old friend.

His young  successor in the sushi bar seemed to be hitting strides and satisfying the prestigious guests from overseas,to be relieved.

 

Treasure Hunting in Kutchan!

The Treasure Hunting Event was arranged in Kutchan Town from July 14(Mon.) and will continue till October 13(Mon.).

In total, one million Japanese Yen will be used for the awards and for that, the explorers have to get the leaflet of the event and with the clues written on that,  find the treasures of the town 

and report the keywords to the designated website on the Internet. Hotel Setsu Niseko has an extra keywords.

 

The Jazz Festival in Hotel Setsu Niseko !

The annual ? music event was held in the courtyard of Hotel Setsu Niseko on July 19(Sat.) and 20(Sun.), 2025.

I heard that the Japanese diva Ms. Yasuko Yagami had shown her best performance as she had done decades ago last year.

A Jazz Festival invited many famous players such as the Orchesta de la lus and other popular performers this year and the courtyard was filled up with the guests enthusiastic.
