It may be my first time to visit the center island of Lake Toya. None of the tourists on the cruiser landed on the island on that day. A small cloud was drafted over the hill of the island.
After leaving Lake Toya, I visited Hamada Orchard near the lake. I was struck by the hospitality shown by the owner of the orchard Mr. Hamada. He kindly offered us the tasting of the fruits produced in his orchard.
When a typhoon hit the area some years ago, some of his greenhouses were damaged and broken. It costs millions of Japanese Yen to repair the green houses, he said.
