Leaving Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Hakodate, I headed to the camping site on the hillside of Mt. Hakodate-yama where the entrance of the trail through the woods located.
Near the entrance of the trail and the approach road to the peak of Mt. Hakodate-yama, there is the monument for the deceased in the shipwreck of Toya-maru that sank in Tugaru Strait between the main island of Japan and Hokkaido.
This is the monument carved the name of the ship Toya-maru. Many passengers lost their future and lives. We never allow the same kinds of accident to occur in the future.
